ODSC's Industrial Sponsors

Industrial sponsorship has always been crucial to the success of the Optical Data Storage Center's research programs.  ODSC's industrial partners ensure the vitality and relevance of the program's research through the sharing of their vision, semi-annual reviews of the programs, and through suggestions for reallocation of resources.

Industrial sponsors, working with faculty members and scientists at the Optical Data Storage Center, the College of Optical Sciences and the University of Arizona, form a powerful and unique research cooperative.  Together they are leading the way to new solutions in data storage, the 21st century's most exciting frontier, through a combination of sponsor-selected projects, called directed research, and through projects selected by the policy board, called pooled research.

In addition to access to confidential research results, ODSC industrial sponsors benefit through invitations to attend semi-annual meetings and workshops and through the sharing of intellectual property and ODSC-developed software.  Sponsors also benefit through close collaboration with and access to Optical Data Storage Center faculty members and the ability to choose their future employees from a talented pool of graduate students specializing in optical data storage.

The Optical Data Storage Center counts some of the world's most innovative companies among its sponsors:

CMC Magnetics Corporation

Hewlett-Packard Company

Industrial Technology Research

There are opportunities for companies to become affiliated with the Optical Data Storage Center by supporting directed projects in storage-related research under a separate contract at negotiable levels of funding.

For information about joining the elite Optical Data Storage Center, please contact Professor Dror Sarid, Director of the Optical Data Storage Center, by email at sarid@optics.arizona.edu or by telephone at 520-621-4603.
