Forty-five
years ago Emeritus Professor Roland Shack joined Aden Meinel as a
founding member of the Optical Sciences Center faculty. Today
history confirms his distinguished record of service to academia as well
as his appreciation of challenging research. With a quiet sense of
duty and a commitment to excellence in optical Sciences, it can be said
that Roland was instrumental in helping define the reputation of
achievement we all currently enjoy at the College of Optical Sciences.
