You will benefit from working side by side with a talented and experienced group of professionals eager to mentor.  Day to day activities can involve significant interaction with various functional groups such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering and Manufacturing, allowing for additional broad learning opportunities.  

Position Overview:

As an Optical Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2021, you will be supporting the design, manufacturing and test of optical systems such as mirrors, lenses and telescopes.  Position starts in early June and ends late August.  This is available only for students who are returning to school in the Fall.  Tasks will include:

Planning & Execution
Data Analysis
Optical Assemblies

A stipend and/or housing allowance is offered to those who meet the eligibility requirements.  Students are responsible for securing their own housing if needed.

Experience/Preferred Skills/Competencies:

Ability to work in a lab
Exposure to courses in Optical Engineering helpful  


Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Optical Engineering, physics, or astronomy from an accredited institution
GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
