II-VI Optical Systems' designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Our products have been deployed on military platforms such as submarines, tanks, missiles, fighter jets and UAV's. Basic Function:

Under minimum supervision, operates coating equipment that applies coating onto optics. Primarily coats standard and some engineering coating designs on optical substrate with high yields. Performs support functions to keep the equipment and processing running effectively.

Position Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience with emphasis on math or science. AA/AS degree preferred or vocational training in coatings, material properties and vacuum systems or physical science, mathematics or engineering. Mastery of college algebra and trigonometry. Requires ability to operate specialized equipment, read difficult instructions and maintain concise written records.

Work Experience:

  1. Demonstrates proficiency in vacuum systems and optical coatings.

  2. Can use leak detector.

  3. Minimum 3 years of experience in optics coating or equivalent of directly related experience/education.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Mathematic Skills

    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentage, area, circumference, and volume.

    • Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

    • Ability to understand basic statistics and interpret/maintain control charts.

  • Language Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with others and relay vital information

  • Reasoning Ability

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in furnished written, oral or diagram form.

    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
