We are looking for an optical engineer to design and tolerance optical components and systems to work with our integrated photonics technology in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will work directly with optics manufacturing companies to fabricate custom optical components, and will integrate them into prototype systems. The candidate will interface with integrated photonics team and our integrated photonics devices.

Job Function

  • Design, analysis and tolerancing of reflective and refractive optical components and optical systems
  • Optomechanical design of optical systems, system integration
  • Characterization and testing of optical components and systems
  • Free-form optics design / characterization
  • Working with optical and optomechanical vendors to develop system / component prototypes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Sciences, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with optical component and system design, analysis and tolerancing (2+ years)
  • Proficiency with Zemax and/or CodeV software
  • Experience with optical alignment
  • General optical laboratory experience (working with lasers / power meters / free space optics etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Optical Engineering or related field
  • At least 2 years' experience with optical components / systems design, characterization, and tolerancing
  • Experience with free space optical alignment
  • Proficiency with Zemax and/or CodeV software (2+ years)
  • Experience with optomechanical design
  • Experience with free-form optics
  • Familiarity with MATLAB a plus
  • Integrated photonics characterization experience a plus
