Job Description: 

Position Summary: This position is for an Optical Engineer preferably with some prior optical engineering at academic or industrial level.  This person will be engaged in activities related to the design, analysis, development, testing of next generation optical components and sub-systems used in optical thin-film metrology systems, based on spectroscopic ellipsometry and reflected scatterometry.

Required experience

  • Good understanding of aberration theory, lens design, polarization, diffraction theory, and radiometry.
  • Fluent in use of optical design softwares like Zemax or CodeV.
  • Knowledge in design of illumination and imaging optical systems related to confocal microscopy, photolithography, or similar optics modules for semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Prior knowledge in tolerance analysis and stray light analysis of optical systems using Zemax is required.
  • Ability to design and perform design of experiments (DOE) related to optical component and subsystem prototype development and source characterizations in lab environments is required.

Desired skills

  • A proactive self-starter, excellent communicator, good team player with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Opto-mechanical design and/or system engineering skills are a significant plus.
  • C++, MATLAB, or Python coding skills are desirable.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with one or two notable contributions in optics design, 
  • 1 or 2 years of optics engineering experience in optics industry is a plus.
