Job Description: 
As a summer intern or co-op student, you will assist staff members in working on a broad range of optical problems in conceptual system design, ray tracing and tolerance analysis, specification and oversight of optical component fabrication, and optical system alignment and testing. You will gain real-world skills and experience.
 
Requirements:
  • Completed Junior year or higher in an optical sciences or optical engineering degree track
  • GPA > 3.3/4.0
  • A broad optical engineering education, with course work in geometrical and physical optics, with a familiarity of optical component fabrication, system alignment and testing.
  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, excellent communication skills, and the ability to produce and present professional written and oral reports.
  • All employees (including interns and co-ops) at Lincoln Laboratory are required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:
  • Zemax or CodeV optical design software
  • Stray light modeling, FRED software
  • Matlab
  • Experience assembling, aligning, and testing refractive or reflective optical components and systems
  • Designing and tolerancing optical systems for fabrication
