Responsibilities

Opto-Mechanical Engineers at JPL have the unique opportunity to build the future of exploration. You can be a part of design, fabrication, and testing, research, technology development, and creation of advanced optical instruments. Opto-Mechanical Engineers at JPL have expertise that spans the full breath of mechanical disciplines and is applied from architectural concept through operations.

Our Opto-Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the following:

  • Design engineering and drafting
  • Design data management and control
  • Maintaining hardware standards, testing standards, and design processes for flight hardware
  • Computer aided engineering solutions for mechanical design and analysis
  • Materials analysis, characterization, and testing
  • Mechanical and electronic fabrication
  • Environmental testing

Qualifications

JPL's New Grad program provides recent college graduates with an opportunity to immediately utilize the knowledge obtained through their studies to gain related work experiences in alignment with their professional goals. To qualify for this program, students must be graduating this academic year or have graduated with Bachelor's and Master's within the last 36 months or with a PhD within the last 7 years.
