Job Description: 
The Electronics Engineer will help unlock new space-to-ground data rates through the oversight of electronics and electrical systems relating to the Skyloom optical communications system. They will design, select, and test both laboratory and flight-qualified electronics as part of Skyloom’s prototype development and flight tests. They are responsible for the circuits and electrical interfaces of a functional and space-qualified lasercomm system that will make Skyloom the go-to data carrier for Earth-imaging systems.
  1. Participate in the design, assembly, and testing of the Skyloom GEO Repeater In-House Technology Demonstration; Dec. 1st, 2018
  2. Specify and select electronics and electrical devices for the Skyloom GEO Repeater In-House Technology Demonstration; Dec. 1st, 2018.
  3. Build relationships with vendors to understand COTS and custom solutions available for both laboratory as well as flight hardware.
  4. Participate in the Complete Free Space Optical Functional Chain Flight Test through design, assembly, and testing; March 2020.
  5. Design and build circuits and interfaces for the electrical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical elements of the Skyloom GEO Repeater; June, 2021
The ideal candidate for this role:

  2. Has a strong grasp of the principles of Electrical Engineering; especially the areas of RF and high-speed digital circuits.
  3. Is creative and effective with words, images, and design. This person should enjoy collaboration and presentation.
  4. Has experience specifying and using laboratory electronics, measurement instruments, and control systems. This person should enjoy hands-on experimentation and have a hacker’s spirit.
  5. Is passionate about expanding the commercial potential of Space and redefining what is possible in Earth orbit.
