Job Description: 

Micro-LAM, Inc. is seeking a hard-working, knowledgeable, and goal-oriented individual to join our team.  This position is responsible for new processes and technology development for Micro-LAM’s novel laser-assisted technology and ultra-precision tooling.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead projects targeting to improve current products and develop new technology.
  • Design and execute tests for new processes for laser-assisted diamond turning on hard-to-machine materials.
  • Design and execute tests for current and next gen ultra-precision tooling.
  • Plan, set up and execute tests on ultra-precision equipment.
  • Perform various imaging, microscopy, and characterization techniques to better understand the mechanics of material removal.
  • Perform metrology, including surface and form measurements on machined parts.
  • Assisting customers in process development and application projects, on and off-site.
  • Prepare and present technical report to internal groups as well as customers.
  • Publish research papers and present at professional conferences/tradeshows.
  • Actively seek current and new technology to complement in-house processes.

Requirements:

  • A good understanding of optical fabrication.
  • Experienced in one or more of the following fields: Diamond Turning, Optical Fabrication, Optical Metrology, Materials Science, Lasers, Material Characterization & Microscopy.
  • Experience in programming ultra-precision CNC machines preferred.
  • Experienced in Optical Metrology preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD and reading optical part drawings.
  • Willingness to travel to customer and partner sites for support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
