Summary / Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced engineer in physics, photonics or opto-electronics who aspire to apply their skills to the exciting growth area of photonic designs and simulations. Successful candidate is an expert in the photonic domain with experience in photonic science and its applications in hi-tech, automotive or optical communications. This is a customer facing role in a pre-sales environment with exciting opportunity to interact with global customers to understand their challenges and help them deliver innovative solutions. The candidate will be part of our vibrant technical community working with global colleagues and supporting customers in APAC region including India. This position requires up to 30% travel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivering product presentation, demonstration and engaging with technical discussion with customers to convince them on the advantages of Ansys photonics (Lumerical) product
  • Offering recommendations and best practices on the simulation of various photonic applications
  • Be able to address customer queries on tool usage or implementations with deep technical expertise on the subject
  • Deliver technical proof and related work products as required by the customer
  • Deliver hands on workshops, webinars, and trainings on tool usage
  • Offer customer specific technical solutions and support to enhance the tool utilization
  • Undertaking pilot studies to prove the benefits of our solutions
  • Regular coordination with R&D and active contribution to product improvements

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • A physics or engineering degree in photonics / opto-electronics or other disciplines with photonics major
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of photonics theory and applications in areas such as optical communication systems, solar cells, CMOS image sensors, LED/OLEDs or photonic integrated circuits
  • Experience with internal / external customer facing communications
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in related field

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience with using numerical solvers such as FDTD, RCWA, BPM, charge transport, heat transport, multi-quantum wells, or PIC circuit solvers
  • Experience with Ansys solutions such as Lumerical, Zemax and Speos
  • Graduate level courses in solid state devices
  • Familiarity with EDA/EPDA design flows, including compact model development and validation
  • Participation in an MPW run including design, fabrication, and testing
  • Programming experience with MATLAB, Python or similar language
  • Prior experience in pre-sales /post sales / training and support organizations
  • Master's degree or Ph.D is a plus
