Job Description: 

This role involves applying advanced data analysis and quantitative modeling to enable product development. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with a passion for quantitative sciences and looking to be part of a strategic R&D function with significant career growth opportunity. Individuals with a strong background in human Vision Science and at least one of the following, namely, Computer Vision, Image Analytics, Instrumentation, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and/or Applied Optics are encouraged to apply.  Additional responsibilities for this role include:

  • Developing visual perception models to assess and simulate in-vivo performance of Intraocular Lenses and Contact Lenses.
  • Developing and/or advancing innovative methods for bench-to-clinic extrapolation and supporting appropriate endpoint selection for product testing and development.
  • Implementing quantitative methods to enable efficient bench testing, preclinical testing, and clinical evaluation.
  • Developing algorithm for product development and process automation, including, coding, algorithm testing, and algorithm validation.
  • Independently scoping opportunities and developing project-specific data analysis plan.
  • Providing quantitative vision science and/or visual psychophysics input to support product registration and product launch

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+10yrs; Assoc.+6yrs; M.S.+0yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Masters and/or PhD in vision science or applied optics or computer vision or visual psychophysics or physics or biomedical engineering or related quantitative fields.
  • At least 2 yrs of proven experience in applying advanced quantitative methods to solve real-world problems in the medical device industry or equivalent industry/academic experience.
  • Demonstrable expertise in vision science, modeling and simulation, and algorithm development, including, coding, algorithm testing, and algorithm validation.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and clinical practices for vision testing and quantifying outcome is preferable.
  • In-depth knowledge in relevant software applications for data analytics and modeling (e.g. Matlab, Python). Additional competency in optical modeling software packages (e.g. ZEMAX) is preferable.
  • Good data exploration skills and demonstrable ability to process multi-modal data (e.g. bench, animal, clinical, and patient-reported-outcomes) is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams is highly desirable.
