We are looking for an exceptional Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Opto-Mechanical to provide overall manufacturing engineering leadership and support to optical system fabrication. In this role you will provide independent review of the whole product development process (PDP), steer improvement efforts and drive process development and improvements. In addition, an important aspect of your role will be to interact with technical teams to provide sound technical support.
What you will do is:
- Maintain and improve existing production processes, train and qualify new hired production technicians.
- Develop a production expansion plan, identify and procure equipment and tooling and setup the production lines. Develop and document the new processes for optical, mechanical and electrical designs, optical sub-systems manufacturing, and all assembly, alignment and testing equipment.
- Work closely with Development Engineering and Manufacturing Technical teams on the production improvement and expansion.
- Implement automated data collection plans and SPC to prevent product defect and minimize the failure rates. Prepare and launch ECOs, Routers. Actively work with cross functional teams (Lead MFG Engineers, program managers, planners, buyers, document control, design engineers and leadership team) to implement the changes, within a time frame, correctly and independently.
- Effectively communicate and identify issues during engineering builds and implement corrective actions to improve product manufacturing, yield and quality. Diagnose and debug issues in existing manufacturing processes or equipment with corrective actions implemented in a timely manner.
What you will bring to the team is:

B.S. degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Optics or Physics or related.
- Must have hands-on work experience with opto-mechanical assembly experience.
- 5+ years of experience with manufacturing and applications in product development, engineering, integration and testing of complex hardware/software.
- 5+ years of experience in Opto-mechanical systems development or NPI/MFG engineering.
- Must have hands-on experience with defining, assembling, aligning and calibrating equipment setups, opto-mechanical alignment, data acquisition and analysis and troubleshooting test systems.
- A team player with proven ability to effectively present complex technical information to different audience.
- Familiar with using SolidWorks, knowledge of SAP (ERP) software and laser safety is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: 73,500 to 169,650 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
