Then you should join Lockheed Martin Space’s Optical Payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE) to support electronic hardware development for space applications as an Optical Engineer.

As an Optical Engineer with the Optical payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE), you will design, analyze, and test optical and electrooptical systems and components. Conduct research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Apply research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations.

The Optical Payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE) enables new frontiers in visible-light and infrared systems, missile defense, space exploration and much more. Our members integrate authorities across the nation, within Lockheed Martin, our industry partners and leading research universities, in to one fast-acting collaborative group.

We are looking for a strong background in optical sciences and engineering. You should demonstrate effective verbal communication, commitment to collaborative technology development, develop concise and professional technical presentations, and deliver briefings to peers, leadership, and US Government customers. You should be able to work in a classified environment.

Basic Qualifications:
-Optical Design or Optical Engineering Major
-Experience with Optical Design and/or Optical Engineering
-Must be a US Citizen

Desired Skills:
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience will optical design and related tools (Zemax OpticStudio, CODE V, FRED, etc.)

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
