Abstract(s):
Space provides a unique experimental environment to explore fundamental physics with precision measurement tools of atomic clocks and quantum atomic sensors. With the NASA Cold Atom Laboratory launched into space on ISS, an era of atom interferometry in space has begun for science quests. In this talk, we will briefly introduce the atom interferometer working principle and describe some of the atomic senor development activities at JPL. We will then discuss concepts of using atom interferometers in microgravity platforms and in space for direct detection of dark energy scalar fields.
