Abstract(s):
Dr. Novak will present an overview of several of the techniques currently employed in industry for single frame (snapshot) measurement of various surface properties including stress, surface shape and roughness on both specular and diffuse materials, covering lateral scales from micrometers to meters. He will also discuss the importance of considering not just technical requirements but the overall customer experience into system design in order to produce compelling products for various applications.
Speaker Bio(s):
Dr. Erik Novak has been Director of Business Development at 4D Technology since 2013. Erik received his PhD in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona in 1998 under Dr. James Wyant. He has been developing instrumentation for precision metrology for more than 24 years in applications including displays, optics films, aerospace, automotive, photovoltaics, and medical devices. He has developed systems and techniques for interferometry, confocal microscopy, stylus systems, spectrometry, Raman imaging and more. Erik has received five R&D 100 awards, holds over a dozen patents, and has more than sixty publications and book chapters related to surface measurement and industrial process control.
