    CIAN Summer Camp

The Center for Integrated Access Networks (CIAN) will be hosting two EASIS (Expect Academic Success in STEM) optical science summer camps here at OSC, and they're in need of student and faculty volunteers. Opportunities include faculty talks, lab tours, demonstration help and much more. The dates of the upcoming Summer Camps are June 12-16, hosting the Winslow Unified School District; and July 17-20, hosting the Mescalero Apache School. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Ameé Hennig at

    Volunteers are needed for:

    • Lab tours
    • Optical demonstrations (ex. IR camera, diffraction grating glasses, etc.)
    • Special speakers (interesting optical topics appropriate for high school students)
    • Help with logistics (ex. Meals [get a free meal!], set up and break down, etc.)

In addition, Ameé is seeking donations of broken electronics that can be used for the Technology Dissection portion of the summer camp. Old computers, cameras and similar non-functional electronics are welcome.
