The college installed a Nanotech 350FG freeform generator in Meinel 129 just before winter break. This device, used to machine complex optical elements and optomechanical components in a wide variety of materials, will bulk up the microoptics fabrication facilities managed by associate professor Rongguang Liang. The generator will allow OSC technicians to rapidly prototype novel and unconventional imaging systems; it's expected to bring in new projects and progress in biomedical and computational imaging research.
