Kyle J. Myers, Ph.D. 1985, has been named the 2012 College of Optical Sciences Alumna of the Year. Myers, who serves as the director of the Division of Imaging and Applied Mathematics at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is a pioneer of the field of image science; she coauthored the definitive text on the subject with her adviser-turned-collaborator, Regents' Professor Harrison H. Barrett.

Myers will be honored during the University of Arizona's Homecoming Weekend, in a ceremony on Friday, Nov. 9, 3-5 p.m. in the Student Union's Grand Ballroom.

Also among the Homecoming festivities is a special lecture, "Leading Edge Options for Cataract Surgery," given by professor Jim Schwiegerling at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Meinel 307, as part of the third annual Collegiate and Campus Showcase.
