    OSC Outstanding Staff

We would like to congratulate Brianna Moreno and Linda Schadler, who are the most recent Staff Recognition Award winners. Brianna was recognized as the August SPOT award winner and will receive a $50 gift card, while Linda became the 3rd Quarter Peer-to-Peer recipient and will receive $250 issued through payroll. Both also received framed certificates.

Professor Rolf Binder nominated Brianna, and he had this to say:

I don't know if Brianna has received the OSC staff recognition before. If not, I would say it is long overdue. Brianna is very knowledgeable and skilled in terms of math, graphic design and typesetting software, and at the same time she is very easy to work with. She also doesn't hesitate to stay past 5 p.m., even on the last day before a long weekend, if there is a need for that. She truly deserves the staff recognition.

Linda was nomitated by Justin Walker, who had this to say:

Linda is a breadth of knowledge and support in administrative matters for both the College and the Photonics group within the College. She knows the administrative processes very well, is always very kind and accommodating when meeting the demands of the professors both within her direct line of work, and others who may need help but are not directly supported by Linda. Linda engages in very complex and high-level administrative matters with constant professionalism and poise and is an example of superlative research support for our faculty. While the Dean's office was short staffed in the Contracts office during a critical-last minute NSF proposal re-submission for the Physics group, Linda rose to the occasion and brought her knowledge of NSF’s Fast Lane program to help enable a successful proposal re-submission within a 24 hr time window. This proposal was not in direct support of her Photonics group, but it was an important matter for one of our Physics faculty members and as such, Linda did not hesitate to help, even though the effort required additional time and resources.
