DKIST Mirror Blank Delivered to Optical Engineering and Fabrication Facility
On March 18, 2014, SCHOTT North America Inc. delivered an enormous mirror blank to be shaped and polished at OSC's Optical Engineering and Fabrication Facility. The huge piece of glass was carefully lowered into the basement shop with only inches of clearance. Once completed, the lens will be shipped to Maui, Hawaii, for use in the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, which will be the world's most powerful ground-based solar telescope.
