SENATOR KELLY VISITS WYANT COLLEGE OF OPTICAL SCIENCES AND CENTER FOR QUANTUM NETWORKS

Senator Mark Kelly and his team were warmly welcomed to the Wyant College of Optical Sciences on April 5, 2024 for a "Quantum Tour" to see the cutting-edge NSF-ERC Center for Quantum Networks (CQN) and the Grand Challenges Research Building (GCRB). Read more about his visit.

LASER FUN DAY | APRIL 20

Laser Fun Day is not far off! Mark your calendar and plan to bring your friends and family to this amazing event, with fun for all ages. Planned and run by the Wyant College of Optical Sciences students, SOCk (Student Optics Chapter), with funding provided by SPIE and Optica!

CONVOCATION IS COMING! PRE-REGISTER

The James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences cordially invites students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the college to join us on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom for the 2024 Spring Convocation Ceremony. A light reception will immediately follow the program. Guests are allowed and there is no limit on number of guests per graduating student. Tickets are not required to attend. Full details here.

WORLD QUANTUM DAY | APRIL 14

World Quantum Day is an annual celebration promoting public awareness and understanding of quantum science and technology around the world. See how you can get involved right here in Tucson by participating in NSF-ERC CQN and AQUI events.

LIAM FRANK SELECTED AS UARIZONA CLUB ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Liam Frank is a physics PhD student in the College of Science, specializing in research housed in the Wyant College of Optical Sciences with Prof. Jason Jones' lab. However, Liam's talent extends beyond the lab and into the pool as a UArizona club athlete on the Club Water Polo team. For April Liam was named the Student Athlete of the Month! PRISM WEEK IN SUMMARY & PHOTOS

Paola Luna, one of many Wyant College of Optical Sciences students who led the way for planning and running Prism Week recently, wrote up a wonderful summary of the week's events. SOCK SPRING BBQ & SPIKEBALL TOURNAMENT

REGISTER TO ATTEND ANNUAL SOCK CAMPING TRIP

Don't forget to register for the upcoming SOCk Camping Trip to Mount Graham (Mar. 26) and visit to the Large Binocular Telescope, on Mar. 27! This unique opportunity only happens once a year and is open to OSC students, staff and faculty. Transportation is available for up to 30 participants and available until filled. WYANT COLLEGE OF OPTICAL SCIENCES STUDENTS, STAFF & FACULTY CHASE THE ECLIPSE

April 8, 2024 was the date for the Great American Eclipse, and not only were people from all over the country chasing clear skies, but a number from OSC were also seeking the chance to see it both in totality and as a partial eclipse. If you also traveled to experience the total solar eclipse you can email Amee Hennig to have your name added to the list above! Be sure to send any photos you may have captured of either the partial or total solar eclipse!
