Celebrating 50 Years

The University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences, founded as the Optical Sciences Center, was established in 1964 to fulfill a national need for more highly trained engineers and physicists in the optical sciences. It has stood at the forefront of the field throughout its history; today it offers superlative educations, cutting-edge research programs and a solid commitment to the economic development of the optics industry.

LIGHT MOMENTS

Simple, Yet Profound

The college's impact on research and education in optics is undeniable.

But OSC has also enhanced and enriched the day-to-day experiences of thousands of faculty members, staff and students as they passed through the Meinel Building's halls.

In honor of OSC's 50th anniversary, we prepared a series of short, light-hearted pieces about the exploits and adventures of OSC's earliest years.
