Campaign Kick-Off Next Friday!
UA's Campaign Kick-Off starts next Friday at 2 p.m. with a series of talks and tours in the Meinel Building and across campus, including one by our very own Lars R. Furenlid at 2:10 p.m. in Meinel 307.

Optics Shop Installs New Stressed Lap and Polishing Machine
At noon on Friday, Feb. 28, a crowd of more than 80 faculty, staff and students rustled around the Meinel Building's basement-level optics shop, surrounded by bulky stands of complex optical machinery. In the background, a video screen looped footage of a large device polishing the glass surface of an enormous telescope mirror.

Wheelwright Awarded 2014 Kidger Scholarship
Ph.D. student Brian Wheelwright is the latest winner of the Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship, given each year to a graduate student of optical design in honor of the late educator, software developer and respected member of the optical sciences community.
