Last week, UA President Dr. Robert Robbins, met with OSC Dean Thomas L. Koch and Emeritus Professor and OSC Founding Dean James C. Wyant, to gain insights into the College of Optical Sciences.
Seeking Faculty Nominations: Undergraduate Research Innovation Award
Faculty members are encouraged to nominate undergraduate students for the Undergraduate Research Innovation Award in Optics. The award recognizes a University of Arizona optics undergraduate whose research achievements demonstrate promise in advancing innovative applications of optics that improve quality of life or address societal changes. Don't delay! The deadline for nominations is Aug., 20, 2017.
Help Get Kids Excited About Optics
OSC students: Learn how to get K-12 students excited about optical science and technology with Optics Outreach OPTI 489/589. Your participation may inspire young students to start thinking about getting a degree in Optical Engineering and pursue rewarding careers in many diverse fields involving optics.

The College of Optical Sciences would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone either returning from the summer break or starting new at OSC. There are a number of special welcome-back events geared toward starting the semester off right.

OSC Adjunct Professor Kishan Dholakia was awarded the 2017 Thomas Young Medal and Prize for his contributions to the field of optical micromanipulation using shaped light fields in liquid, air and vacuum.
