NCU Student Exchange Program and Scholarship
The Department of Optics and Photonics (DOP), National Central University in Taiwan invites scholarship applications for incoming exchange students for Summer (Jun. – Jul., internship) and Fall (Sept. – Jan., regular semester) in 2018. The opportunities are offered to undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Optical Sciences, the University of Arizona. Interested applicants should contact DOP professors to find a host research laboratory in advance. The awards will be $2,500 per person. The application deadline is April 15, 2018.
University of Arizona's College of Engineering Industry Exposition (iExpo) 2018
The University of Arizona Engineering Student Council invites you to attend the largest student-run career fair for engineers in Arizona! The iExpo provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate engineering students to connect with corporations and government agencies in a more intimate setting.
Laser Fun Day Seeks Volunteers
Take an important role in the planning and/or execution of the largest annual event to take place at the College of Optical Sciences! Sign up to be a volunteer or contact outreach@optics.arizona.edu with questions. All volunteers receive a Laser Fun Day Shirt, pizza, and eegees. Start by attending the upcoming Laser Fun Day Planning Committee Meeting, Feb. 2 in Meinel 305. The meeting will include free pizza and reoccur every other Friday. OSC Alumnus Nominated for WAGS ProQuest Innovation in Technology Award
The College of Optical Sciences would like to congratulate Chen-Ting Liao, M.S. and Ph.D. graduate of the College of Optical Sciences for his nomination for the Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) ProQuest Innovation in Technology Award. His nomination was based on his doctoral dissertation, “Exploring Ultrafast Quantum Dynamics of Electrons by Attosecond Transient Absorption,” which he completed in 2017 under the direction of Professor Arvinder Sandhu.

Lockheed Martin Visits OSC, Seeks new Employees
Lockheed Martin, an OSC Industrial Affiliate Leadership Partner, will visit the College of Optical Sciences Monday, Feb 19 through Wednesday, Feb 21. During this visit, the company will host an information session on Feb 19 in Meinel 307 (more details to come).

OSC at SPIE Photonics West 2018
The College of Optical Sciences was happy to be present for the 2018 SPIE Photonics West Conference in San Francisco, CA. A number of faculty and students attended to participate both as attendees and presenters. Additionally, the college hosted a booth where Melissa Ayala and Lindsay Loebig, Senior Academic Advisors, and Amy Phillips, Senior Licensing Manager, presented the many opportunities available at the college.
2018 Winter School
The 2018 Winter School brought together a select group of undergraduate students for an overview of foundational topics in optics and their relation to current research. The 2018 Workshop provided a forum for both faculty and students from predominantly undergraduate institutions to share results, approaches, and methodologies in optics and photonics research and education that are unique to the undergraduate setting.
