Raytheon Launches Campus Lecture Series
A group of College of Engineering alumni at Industrial Affiliates member Raytheon Systems Co., including Jeffrey Scogin, B.S. in OSE 2008, has organized an interactive lecture series for faculty and students on the UA campus. Called "Raytheon Presents!" the series features design competitions, demos and videos.
All lectures are held in AME S202 at 5 p.m. The first, "Introduction to Tactical Missile Design: Design Your Own Missile," is tonight; the next two events are "Aerodynamics: What the Liberal Arts Department Doesn’t Want You to Know" on Feb. 26 and "Ready ... Ready ... Pickle! Flight Tests" on March 5. You can find the rest of the schedule online.
KLA-Tencor Corp. to Host Info Session
KLA-Tencor Corp., a Leadership Partner in the college's Industrial Affiliates program, will hold an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Meinel 307. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
NVESD to Hold Info Session, Interviews
The Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate of the U.S. Army is holding an information session at 4 p.m. on Feb. 25 in Room 411 of the Career Services office in the Student Union Memorial Center. NVESD, the Army's sensor developer, is looking for electrical, optical and computer engineers and physicists with bachelor’s or master’s degrees and current U.S. citizenship to work at its Fort Belvoir, Virginia, laboratory. They will conduct interviews on Feb. 26.

In Memoriam: Fritz Henneberger
The college is sad to share that Fritz Henneberger, professor of physics at the Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), passed away on Feb. 1. Henneberger, who specialized in the photonic properties of semiconductor nanostructures, served as a visiting professor at OSC in 1994, 1995 and 2009 and collaborated regularly with professor Nasser Peyghambarian.
