    Students in the optical sciences might want to take a quick look at the University of Arizona Sky School, which provides one-of-a-kind residential science programs on top of Mount Lemmon for local K-12 kids. If you perform research on the mountain and want to teach a quick three-hour lesson to high school freshman in mid-April, you may be eligible to apply for an internship.

    Scientific Symposium to Honor Gibbs

    On March 11, a special scientific symposium will convene to honor the memory and career of Hyatt M. Gibbs, the distinguished physicist, educator and emeritus professor who passed away last September. Six of the top minds in optics will discuss subjects that he impacted deeply, including atomic, molecular and optical physics, femtosecond spectroscopy and semiconductor photonics, before the day's program closes with a few words of remembrance.

    Dean to Speak in D.C.

    OSC graduates and affiliates are invited to join Dean Thomas L. Koch on Wednesday, March 13, 6-8 p.m. at the Phoenix Park Hotel for an Alumni and Industry Partners Reception, at which he will discuss his outlook on the future of optics in research and academics.
