In Memoriam: Robert Boye
Robert Boye, The University of Arizona and College of Optical Sciences' 2016 Alumnus of the Year, passed away on January 10th after a two-year battle with ALS at his home in Albuquerque, NM with his wife, Susan, and two sons, Cal and Dash, by his side.

Schwiegerling Promoted to Fellow of SPIE
Congratulations are in store for Professor Jim Schwiegerling who was recently promoted to Fellow of SPIE by the Fellows Nominating Committee and approved by the SPIE Board of Directors. Prof. Schwiegerling was nominated by Prof. John Greivenkamp. The honor will be recognized in August 2018 at the SPIE Optics & Photonics Conference.

The College of Optical Sciences is happy to present an 8-week seminar that launches with speaker Ken Castle, Ph.D., president of Ruda-Cardinal, Inc. Ken Castle will present in the Meinel Building, Room 305 on Friday, January 19th from 11am-12pm. Ken is a graduate of the UofA Optics department, receiving his PhD in 1985.
