Alumnus Aligns Himawari 8 Imager
Japanese weather satellite Himawari 8 saw first light last month, thanks in part to the optical alignment work done on its main imager by Noah Gilbert, B.S. in OSE 2008. For those interested in the details, the imager is an off-axis four-mirror anastigmat with an operating wavelength range of 435 nanometers to 13,825 nanometers over 16 bands.
