    INTRODUCING THE ASML OPTICAL SCIENCES/OPTICAL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

    ASML, an innovation leader in the semiconductor industry, is generously funding two undergraduate student scholarships in optical sciences and optical engineering at Wyant College. For the Fall semester 2021, the ASML scholarship, $6,250 each, will be awarded to two fortunate recipients. Click the title to learn more.

    NEW SCHOLARSHIP: CHUCK HARDESTY SCHOLARSHIP IN OPTICAL DESIGN

    OSC is grateful to alumnus Chuck Hardesty, MS 1975, who recently established a new scholarship endowment, The Chuck Hardesty Scholarship in Optical Design. This scholarship is open to an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full-time student with the Wyant College of Optical Sciences and with a demonstrated interest in optical design.     INTEGRATED PHOTONICS RESEARCH MEETING SEEKS PAPERS

    A call for papers has been sent by the Integrated Photonics Research (IPR) Meeting, part of the OSA Advanced Photonics Congress, the submission deadline is March 23, 2021. There will be four specialty topic categories: Photonic Devices, Integrated Photonics Applications, New Materials for Integrated Photonics, and Integrated Nonlinear & Quantum Optics. Among the categories, OSC's very own, Judy Su will be subcommittee chair for the Integrated Nonlinear & Quantum Optics committee. Learn more about the meeting and topics.

    CALL FOR SPEAKERS: OSC'S INDUSTRIAL AFFILIATES MEETING

    OSC's Spring Industrial Affiliates program will be here before we know it and we are seeking students and faculty who are interested in sharing their exciting discoveries and research with our IA partners. 

    INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY OFFERS POSTDOC OPPORTUNITIES

    SOPHIE LAROCHELLE SELECTED AS 2021 IEEE FELLOW

    Congratulations to OSC alumni, Sophie LaRochelle, for her selection as a 2021 IEEE Fellow for contributions to fiber devices and data transmission technologies. LaRochelle graduated with an M.S., Spring 1990 and Ph.D., Spring 1992 from the University of Arizona Wyant College of Optical Sciences.

    OPTOSIGMA INFO-SESSION, "UNDERSTANDING THE BASIC LASER PROTECTION"

    Lasers are everywhere. As the laser technologies change so are the needs to understand how to protect against their harmful effects. Join us Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. AZT as OptoSigma presents this special inf-session to OSC and learn more about the basics of laser protection! 

    ASML PHD TECH & CAREER VIRTUAL SYMPOSIUM

    ASML will be hosting a Virtual PhD Symposium in April of this year. PhD students who meet the requirements below are invited to apply. Applicants must submit their application by Friday, February 12th 2021.

    After more than 34-years of service to the University of Arizona, Luz Palomarez, Special Assistant to the Dean of the Wyant College of Optical Sciences, announced her upcoming retirement and last day as January 29, 2021.
