THE WYANT COLLEGE WOMEN IN RESEARCH

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: DR. MICHAEL WILLIAMS
In celebration of Black History Month, Feb. 1 - Mar. 1, we recognize, Dr. Michael Williams, Application Specialist at Boston Electronics and 2021 Optica Ambassador. Dr. Williams joined us at the Wyant College on March 3rd to speak in the Wyant College Colloquium Series. JENNIFER BRAGG AWARDED OPTICA FOUNDATION INAUGURAL AMPLIFY SCHOLARSHIP
Congratulations to Wyant College M.S. Student, Jennifer Bragg for being among the inaugural class awarded the Optica Foundation Amplify Scholarship for Black Scholars. Jennifer will continue in the Wyant College Ph.D. program in Fall 2022. Congratulations, Jennifer!

STUDENTS FEATURED IN NASA EARTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY OFFICE ANNUAL REPORT
Kira Hart Shanks and Jeremy Parkinson are featured in a write-up for NASA's Annual Report from the Earth Science Technology Office. The write-up discusses their research with Dr. Meredith Kupinski into infrared polarimeter and creating a tool that will be launched in a NASA CubeSat mission. This work was also featured by the UANews, read the full article with more details about the research.
WYANT COLLEGE STUDENTS VOLUNTEER AT SARSEF
Three students represented the Wyant College at the first in-person SARSEF Science Fair Awards Ceremonies and Community STEM Expo on Saturday, March 5th. More than 1,500 entries from elementary through high school students around Southern Arizona participated. Ryan Hamilton, Henry Quach and Trent Brendel ran an optical sciences booth at the expo and even attracted the attention of the Arizona Daily Star who featured a photo of the polarization demo in their article.
