Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition Accepting Entries
Enter the Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition by Synopsys’ Optical Solutions Group!
University of Arizona students are invited to participate in the Synopsys Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition, which recognizes excellence in optical design projects completed by students. Students can enter an optical design class assignment or thesis work. Cash awards totaling $4,000 are granted each year.
Special Art Exhibit Using Light "Painting" at UAMA
The University of Arizona Museum of Art is exhibiting the work of Richard Slechta starting May 26. Slechta uses filters, flashlights, and other light sources to "paint" directly onto photographic paper. The exhibit runs from May 26 through September 9. Find out more about the special light art exhibit. The artist was also Technical Lighting Director for Harry Potter and other films.

Dr. Milorad Cvijetic has been prominent in the area of optical communications and photonics for more than four decades. The College of Optical Sciences wishes Dr. Cvijetic all the best for his future and thanks him for his many contributions to OSC.

Sawyer takes the Southwest Showdown Grad Slam
Travis Sawyer, OSC graduate student, was selected to compete in the "Southwest Showdown 3-Minute Grad Slam" competition. Holding nothing back, Travis performed and was awarded 1st Place in the regional conference! All of OSC wishes you a huge Congratulations, Travis! Great job!

Everyone at OSC is wishing Amy Maniscalco all the best as she moves on to a new opportunity within the university at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Amy has recently started a new position with the college as an Accountant, Sr. We will all miss you, Amy!
