The CATS®-D Disposable Prism, invented by OSC alumnus, Dr. Sean McCafferty, received FDA clearance and will be available for sale in fall 2021. The device is built to deliver improved intraoccular pressure measurement accuracy with a sterile tip. Dr. McCafferty, the 2017 Alumnus of the Year for OSC and advised by Dr. Jim Schwiegerling for his graduate studies, described the disposable tip as “the only U.S. tonometer prism manufacturer, we believe the CATS® Tonometer Prism, available in both reusable and disposable options, will quickly supplant a 60-year-old prism technology and become the new standard of care for IOP measurement for eye care clinicians (ophthalmology and optometry) and all patient populations." Read more about the release. Congratulations to both Dr. McCafferty and his company CATS Tonometer LLC.
