ELLIOTT KWAN NAMED WINNER IN ROBERT S. HILBERT MEMORIAL OPTICAL DESIGN COMPETITION

Elliott Kwan's project, advised by Dr. Hong Hua, "Tri-Aperture Monocular Laparoscopic Objective for Stereoscopic and Wide Field of View Acquisition" was selected for the 2020 - 2021 Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition. Elliott will receive a $2,000.00 award. The competition is overseen by Synopsys, a Wyant College Industrial Affiliates member, and honors the memory of Bob Hilbert (1941-2008), former President and Chief Executive Officer of Optical Research Associates. See the official announcement.

Elliott said of the honor, “It has been a pleasure learning optical design in CODE V. The experience of designing and prototyping a novel laparoscope with this software has strengthened my confidence as an optical engineer. I am grateful for receiving this award, and I look forward to continuing pushing the boundaries of optical technology.”
