Industrial Affiliates

We are incredibly grateful to our current Industrial Affiliates for their support.

The Industrial Affiliates program at the College of Optical Sciences aims to bridge the gap between current optics education and the specific needs of those organizations that employ optical scientists and engineers.

Today more than 30 corporations and organizations actively participate in our Industrial Affiliates program; we have, at one time or another, served hundred of inpiduals and corporations with their optics-related challenges.

Practical Optics Workshops

In an effort to fill the gap between scientific understanding and practical skill sets, the College of Optical Sciences has developed an ongoing series of Practical Optics Workshops, geared toward developing hands-on experience for both optical engineering students and those already in the workforce. These workshops utilize the full breadth of UA resources and faculty expertise, to offer both students and employees a unique and hands-on experience which serves as both a professional development and networking opportunity in one setting.

Industry Access Program

The College of Optical Sciences has a long legacy of pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge and translating that knowledge into industrial value. In furtherance of our industrial collaboration, the college has launched a new program to allow for industrial participation in our collective mind-share.

We are now offering a series of four on-campus educational seminars on applied optical design and theory to our current students. For a fee, our Industrial Affiliates members can access these seminars via our distance learning platform on a noncredit basis via our new Industry Access Program.

Industrial Affiliate Workshops

We have been conducting Industrial Affiliates workshops for more than 30 years, and they rank among our most eagerly anticipated events — for affiliates, students and faculty.

We work with faculty members to ensure that you hear about their most significant and exciting initiatives. Our graduate students and senior undergraduates present their latest results — research that previous Industrial Affiliates attendees have had a hand in shaping. The meeting's agenda includes poster sessions and informal opportunities to mingle with faculty and students.

If you haven't attended one of our workshops, we sincerely hope you will consider joining us at the next.

Save the Date: Spring 2015

The 2015 Spring Industrial Affiliates Workshop will take place March 2-4, 2015.

A formal invitation and registration link will be sent to current Industrial Affiliates in January. A final agenda will be forwarded to the email address provided during registration when details are confirmed.
