KEVIN CHEW FIGUEROA SELECTED AS GEM ASSOCIATE FELLOW

Congratulations to Kevin Chew Figueroa upon his selection as a GEM Associate Fellow. Kevin is a first-year PhD student at OSC with research interests in the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (i.e. machine learning), Photonics, Optical Physics, Optical Engineering, and Image Science. He is the 2021 recipient of the Joseph Goodman Graduate Student Scholarship in Optical Sciences. The National GEM Consortium offers doctoral fellowships to underrepresented minority students pursuing higher education in university engineering programs. The Wyant College has had two other previous recipients of GEM awards. Carolyn Reynolds England was a GEM Consortium Employee Fellow in 2012-13 and Walter Allen was a GEM University Fellow in 2018-19. Congratulations, Kevin!
