Congratulations to Dr. Travis Sawyer on his selection for the Early Investigator Advancement Program, by the National Cancer Institute. He is one among twenty-five scholars selected from across the country for the second annual cohort. In 2021 NCI launched the program to, "facilitate the advancement of scientists from diverse backgrounds to become independent investigators." The program aims to enhance professional skills, guide preparation of an R01 grant application, provide access to a mentoring and peer network, and grow a community of emerging independent investigators from diverse backgrounds. Travis' work focuses on developing new imaging tools that will be used for minimally-invasive surgical guidance for pancreatic surgery.
