Be Prepared for Graduation

Be sure to read the information to make sure you are ready for graduation day!

Graduation Slide

During the ceremony, a PowerPoint slide will be displayed for every graduate. Please download the slide template HERE and update it with your information (name, degree, photo, advisor, thesis/dissertation title, quote/plans/note of thanks). Do not modify the file layout or formatting. Upload your PowerPoint slide the UA Box folder HERE by Monday, May 6, 2024.

Graduation Attire

Cap, gown and hood can be purchased directly from the UA Bookstore, either in person or online. Stoles of gratitude are optional.

Undergraduate Students
OSC will provide a college-specific tassel for undergraduate students. If you wish to have the tassel for senior photos, you may pick this up in Meinel 403 by showing an ID. Otherwise, you will get the tassel when checking in on the day of the convocation ceremony.

Graduate Students
OSC will provide a college-specific tassel for graduate students when checking in on the day of the convocation ceremony. The most important piece is the regalia hood, which will be placed on you by the Dean or your faculty advisor during the ceremony. Since Optical Sciences does not have a designated hood color, MS students usually select orange (for engineering) or gold (for science). PhD students should select the “general royal blue” PhD option. The Graduate Professional Student Council (GPSC) may rent cap and gown to graduate students, while supplies last. Click here for more information.

Diplomas

Diplomas are printed and sent from a third party and managed by the Office of the Registrar. Diplomas will be mailed to your Permanent Address in UAccess, unless you specify a separate Diploma Mailing Address. To learn more about the diploma process, check the website of the Office of the Registrar.
