Superlative Staff: March SPOT Award & 2nd and 3rd Quarter Peer to Peer
Congratulations to the Wyant College of Optical Science's latest Staff Recognition Award winners! Belinda McCleese was nominated by Cyndy Noriega for the March 2023 SPOT award. Chris McCormack Obregon was selected for the 2nd Quarter Peer-to-Peer award, nominated by Dalziel Wilson, and Channel Lemon was selected for the 3rd Quarter Peer-to-Peer award, nominated by Kaye Rowan.
Belinda was presented with a certificate for her accomplishments and contributions and received $50 along with her certificate. Cyndy writes of Belinda:
Belinda is a great employee. She is always willing to assist others and when needed she is always the first one to take on an extra task. Belinda provides excellent communication skills with staff and faculty. She is a great person to have in the Accounting Department. Belinda is always willing to go the extra mile for the office.
Chris McCormack Obregon was nominated for the 2nd Quarter Peer-to-Peer award by Dalziel Wilson. He received a certificate recognizing his award, and will receive a check for $250 via payroll.
Dal wrote in his nomination that he wanted to recognize Chris "for exceptional facilities management during an intense growth period at the OSC" as well as:
Our new building manager, Chris, has been extremely helpful to my group---and I imagine many others---in this time of unprecedented growth for the College of Optical Sciences. He is in frequent contact with my students and I concerning our new laboratory in Meinel 678...He devises solutions on the fly, is willing to teach us how to do things ourselves and has an unflaggingly positive attitude. My students and I deeply appreciate his effort.
Channel Lemon was nominated for the 3rd Quarter Peer-to-Peer award by Kaye Rowan. She received a certificate recognizing her award, and will receive a check for $250 via payroll.
Kaye wrote in her nomination about Channel:
Having the occasion to work with Channel on events that engage donors, alumni, industrial affiliates with students and faculty, I am incredibly impressed by your exceptional level of professionalism (quality of work). Even under the most challenging situations, she maintains an amazing sense of calm while getting the job done (courteous and cooperative). And while she already has a time demanding job, I am most grateful that she stepped in to help me in the absence of a development dept. admin to plan the College's Alumni/Industrial Affiliate Reception and OSC Strategic Board Meeting - both held in San Diego. (assists when short staffed).
