Congratulations to Wyant College of Optical Sciences alumnus, Mark Shand, on being selected as the recipient for the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 1906 Award.

According to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), "Created in 2004 by the IEC Executive Committee, the 1906 Award commemorates the IEC's year of foundation and honors IEC experts around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC."

Since then, every year the IEC and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) work together to recognize the exceptional contributions to the USA and global standards and conformity assessment activities performed by those selected. This year, Mark Shand, was one of the nineteen honored.

Mark said of the award, "this was in no small way facilitated by the knowledge I gained at OSC and in particular the Master's report work I was able to do under the supervision of Jim Schwiegerling...I appreciate the recognition of the contribution I was able to make thanks in part to OSC."

Congratulations Mark!
