Engineering Technician/Opto-Mechanical
Full Time – Onsite, Tucson AZ
HartSCI is a dynamic small business that designs and manufactures adaptive optics systems and related instrumentation for astronomical and laser communication applications. Our innovative products are deployed to serve the needs of government, commercial, and academic clients. Spurred by recent growth and larger market share, we are looking to expand our technical team.
As an Engineering Technician, you will participate in the assembly, build-out and deployment of innovative new advanced optical systems, starting from concept and assembly to commissioning an operational product at the customer site. This position includes not only opto-mechanics assembly but also some electronics assembly. Working with our outstanding team of optical, mechanical, and software engineers, as well as our senior scientific staff, you will provide the hands-on assembly support that delivers success to our customers.

Requirements and Essential Job Functions
· ASc or Certificate in opto-mechanics preferred but not required
· 5 years documented experience assembling and aligning moderately complex optical systems and components is highly preferred
· Keen interest in optics and opto-mechanics and ability to work independently and in team environments
· Able to read and understand blue prints, schematics and layouts
· Effectively communicate technical issues to engineering team
· Able to follow written and verbal procedures, and provide feedback and changes/corrections to improve the process
· Assist in the design process of production tooling and fixturing
· Maintain records of work completed
· Track and control materials assigned to multiple projects
· Good organizational and communication skills
· Able to support travel for multiple instrument deployments per year as required
· Ability to lift 40 lbs in tight or difficult-to-access spaces during instrument deployments at remote facilities
· US Citizenship
· Able to pass a mandatory background check
