Join SOCk Community Speakers for a special discussion with OSC Colloquium Speaker, Vahid Sandoghdar.

Dr. Sandoghdar is the managing director at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen and Alexander von Humboldt Professor at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. Sandoghdar is one of the pioneers of Nano-Optics, which merges various research methods to investigate the interaction of light and matter at the nanometer scale. During SOCk community speakers, Sandoghdar will be available for a discussion with OSC students to cover everything from research opportunities in Germany to learn more about MS and PhD programs overseas.

More from Dr. Sandoghdar:

Graduate Programs in Physics of Light to Life:
In this presentation, I will introduce the Max Planck Society as Germany’s flagship of fundamental research. In particular, I will elaborate on the activities of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL), which covers a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from laser spectroscopy, quantum optics, nano-optics, fiber optics, nonlinear optics, and biophotonics. The latter research field has led to the establishment of a separate research center, Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin, which aims to merge physics research with fundamental biomedical research. These diverse activities are also mirrored in two graduate programs, Physics of Light and Physics and Medicine which I will introduce.

Pizza will be provided.
