We're seeking a Photonic Design Engineer to join our team and make a transformative impact on data center networks and AI computing globally.

Role Overview:

The ongoing evolution of AI and ML networks is creating an urgent need for innovative fiber-optic communication solutions that incorporate photonic integrated circuits (PICs). As a pivotal member of our team, you will drive the development of cutting-edge PICs. Your role will range from component and subsystem design, to integration, assembly, and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulate, and optimize passive and active photonic components and circuits using a variety of simulation tools like Lumerical, HFSS, EMPro, COMSOL, Sentaurus, and Silvaco.
  • Plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) to optimize photonic components.
  • Design layouts for high-speed optical transmitters and receivers on tools such as Luceda/IPKISS, and OptoCompiler.
  • Perform system-level simulations, integrating both simulated and real test data, using tools such as VPI and OptSim.
  • Define and implement test plans for photonic components and PICs.
  • Oversee and coordinate the assembly, packaging, and integration of Photonic Integrated Circuits with electronic components on PCBs.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of high-speed PICs and optoelectronic assemblies, including receivers and transmitters.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of industry or research experience in Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) simulation, layout, and testing.
  • Proficiency in simulation and design tools mentioned under "Key Responsibilities".
  • Solid understanding of co-simulation of electronic and photonic components.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.
